MAKING LITERARY HISTORY: Textile brings award-winning authors to Waterloo Region
|
|
Textile supports emerging writers and artists in Waterloo Region, particularly those from historically excluded and marginalized groups. In September 2024, they hosted Black Talk, a landmark gathering featuring Hanif Abdurraqib and Antonio Michael Downing, which was supported by WRCF.

THAT’S WHAT ONE DOES: Waterloo couple’s lifetime of giving back comes naturally

Stephen Swatridge and Mary Flatt have made it a priority to give back to the community they’ve called home for decades. To continue their giving after they’re gone, they created a fund with WRCF and have left a gift to their fund as part of their will.

Tuesday, September 30, 2025 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. On this date, people across Canada take the time to reflect, remember, and honour those impacted by Canada’s residential school system – the children who never returned home, their families and their communities. Below are some activities happening in our community, and we encourage you to keep an eye out for more events linked to National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, and participate if possible.

Welcoming Week 2025 Events

Welcoming Week takes place from September 12 to 21, 2025. It is a global movement of organizations and communities bringing together neighbors of all backgrounds to build strong connections and affirm the importance of welcoming and inclusive places in achieving collective prosperity.
Locally, Immigration Partnership invites you to take part in Welcoming Week events happening across the region. Join them in celebrating the beauty of our diversity and fostering a sense of belonging for all.

Taking action to action youth ideas for change through the Youth Impact Project
|
|
In 2024, the Children and Youth Planning Table of Waterloo Region and Smart Waterloo Region gave out $70,000 to youth who pitched ideas for change in our communities through the Youth Impact Project. WRCF supported one of the groups, resulting in 13 projects becoming reality.
