Territorial Acknowledgement

Waterloo Region Community Foundation (WRCF) is situated within the traditional territory of the Attawandaron (Neutral), Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. The territory is within the Between the Lakes Treaty Lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit and within the Haldimand Tract, lands granted to the Six Nations of the Grand River (Haudenousaunee) in 1784. We recognize that Waterloo Region today is home to a diverse population of First Nations, Inuit and Metis people. WRCF is committed to understanding the impact of settler colonialism on the Indigenous experience in order to envision and co-create collaborative, respectful paths together in mutuality and reciprocity.
