Cynthia McIntyre Memorial Fund

On January 8, 2020, we lost Cynthia far too early after a hard-fought and courageous battle with kidney cancer. Since Cynthia’s passing, we, her family and friends, have continued to cherish our memories of Cynthia. We collectively remember Cynthia as a loving wife and partner, compassionate, caring and supportive mom, daughter, sister and friend and a dedicated colleague. We collectively remember how Cynthia enriched our lives and those organizations in the community she was so passionate about.

On the first anniversary of Cynthia’s passing, the Cynthia McIntyre Memorial Fund is being established to enable Cynthia to continue to give to back to the community organizations and needs so dear to her heart.  Cynthia had boundless amounts of energy for anything that she believed strongly in – her family, friends, colleagues, clientsand her community.  In particular, she devoted much of her energy and expertise to promoting Women in Business; Entrepreneurial Business Initiatives; Community Wellness Organizations; and Education

Women in Business:  Cynthia believed strongly in supporting her fellow female professionals and took a great interest in helping them develop and find the aspects of their careers that brought them joy and fulfillment.

Entrepreneurial Business Initiatives:  Cynthia had a keen interest in helping the business community thrive and was an enthusiastic supporter of entrepreneurism, both in London and Waterloo Region.

Community Wellness Organizations:  Cynthia also made the time to passionately support community wellness through her significant community volunteer leadership efforts particularly with Meals on Wheels in London, and the St. Mary’s General Hospital Foundation in Kitchener.

Education:  Cynthia believed in continuous improvement in the quality of education and would spend time each year bringing her life experiences to students enrolled in the School of Accountancy at the University of Waterloo.

Through her illness, Cynthia and her family were tirelessly supported by the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre.  Her family will also never forget the care Cynthia received at Innisfree House and the peaceful environment in which they were able to say goodbye.

Cynthia lived her life with such passion, zest, excitement and selflessness of making everyone around her better. Cynthia’s family and friends have established the Cynthia McIntyre Memorial Fund with the goal of remembering and honouring the community needs Cynthia was so passionate about. With this fund, Cynthia’s legacy will continue to support those important annual needs she embraced in the Waterloo Region and London communities that she loved, lived and worked in.
